Cathy Moore

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Cathy Moore. Cathy is dedicated, hard working leader who has devoted her entire life to helping the most vulnerable members of our society. Cathy is currently the executive director of Echos (Epiphany Community Health Outreach Services). A faith based nonprofit that provides access to various health services. Moore puts in over 80 hours a week in service and provide food to the less fortunate. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!

Jim Hicks

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Jim Hicks. Thank you for your passion for helping aspiring athletes here in Houston and surrounding areas. Jim spear heads over a dozen tournaments yearly to provide a platform for student athletes to showcase their basketball talent to college scouts across the country. Hicks also hosts a number of community back to school drives. Jimmy is no stranger to Houston athletic departments. His success continues to grow by hosting his radio talk show on Amazing 102.5 fm. Justin Kouri

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Justin Kouri. Justin is the living embodiment of recipe for Success Foundation’s mission to Combat childhood obesity by changing the way our kids encounter and eat their food. As a culinary director, Justin’s programming now extends beyond the classroom to Hope Farms, the foundations new urban farm. Now Justin directly impacts the community and a known food desert by educating people how to use the fresh vegetables available at the farm, while remaining on a snap budget. We salute you! Steven Kaufman

Recognizing Houston’s 2017  Humanitarian Honoree Steven Kaufman. Steven is the CEO and Founder of Fanatical Change. He has helped over 100  Houston families via Fanatical Change and helped raise over $750,000 and gave every penny of it away to families that needed it. He has inspired many friends and colleagues to follow his footsteps. His leadership has inspired countless individuals to be the change they wish to see in the world. G. Emerson Scott
Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree G. Emerson Scott. Thank you for your amazing contributions in Houston!
Pastor Scott led his church to donate 100 turkeys to the 2015 Big Fest for Christmas at the George R. Brown. He continually goes out of his way to help those in need. Pastor Scott’s passion is to impact people through education, deliverance, economic development and spiritual accountability. We salute you!  You are the Heart of Houston!
Jonathan Van Pelt

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Jonathan Van Pelt. The Houston business owner faithfully sponsors and funds many types of local fundraising events. Jon is an advocate for families and individuals in medical and economic distress. Often providing financial assistance out of his own pocket. Thank you Jonathan Van Pelt! We salute you! LaVoshea D. Hendry

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree LaVoshea D. Hendry. Ms Hendry is an inspirational story to many. 23 of her 25 years of life she has experienced the incarceration of her father. LaVoshea has become an advocate for the youth of incarcerated parents. She volunteers relentlessly and participated in various programs. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!

Carroll Oliver

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Carroll Oliver Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of the late Carroll Oliver. Accepting on his behalf is daughter and owner of multiple McDonald’s Stephanie Oliver. Mr. Oliver was known for his heart of compassion and second chances. A philanthropist,giver, motivator and encourager to many. His sense of humor and positive attitude brought a ray of hope and laughter to all that knew him. His daughter Stephanie continues her dads legacy by providing community events and programs through charity. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!

James Williams

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree James Williams. James is a motivational speaker, a life coach and a great friend to have! Me. Williams has dedicated his life to teaching principles that invoke personal and professional transformation for at risk youth. Often taking young males under his wings. He has been there to provide amazing prom experiences and attended many of their graduations where their fathers were not present! Wow! We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!

Joy Sewing

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Joy Sewing. Joy’s amazing ability to uplift and inspire young women, she started the Year of Joy Project to spread joy through her work as a journalist and through her community outreach as a passionate Houston native. Sewing has identified 50 children from underserved areas, secured scholarships and provided luxury transportation for the children to their various first outings. She brought a ray of joy into their lives. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!

Sanna Roling

Recognizing Houston’s 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Sanna Roling. Sanna has a heart and sense of humor as big as Texas. Devoting much of her time to her passion… Horses. Over the past 30+ years Sanna has developed a horseman ship program for youth and adults with disabilities and youth at risk of dropping out of school. Sanna’s dream became a reality with the formation of Dream Catcher Stable Inc. She also played an instrumental part in creating the Top Hands Horse Show (Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo) in Fort Worth ( Chisholm Challenge) and Austin, Tx ( Golden Stirrup). We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!

Hiawatha Henry
Recognizing Houston 2017 Humanitarian Honoree Hiawatha Henry. Henry’s moto is “everyone is someone’s brother, sister or child and no ones grows up with the expectation of being treated like a second class citizen. For 8 years Hiawatha had faithfully provided movies and a meal for the less fortunate every week at the downtown Houston Public Library. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!
