Dr. Cesare Wright
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Dr. Cesare Wright. He is the Rice University Computer Lecture & Outreach Leadership Specialists. Through his tremendous efforts and outreach, many students of limited means participate in numerous learning opportunities through programs at Rice. Dr. Wright’s highly anticipated project is the Annual Summer Rice Drone Camp. Extending this program to kids of military families at no charge. There are many programs and projects Dr. Wright has participated and is currently active on. He has a tremendous love for science and technology. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!
Marti Boone
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Marti Boone. Marti is the current director of Be An Angel Foundation. A large organization that raises  hundreds of thousands of dollars to provide learning opportunities, equipment and services for thousands off students with physical, hearing, vision and learning challenges state-wide. Let Gov. Dan Patrick is on the Board of Directors. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!
Fred Waters
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Fred Waters. Mr. Waters is a student advocate, teacher advocate and a parent advocate, serving those where ever there is a need. His position at T. H. Rogers School handles the elaborate labor -intensive ARD process for 150+ deaf and multi-impaired students. He is critical in hiring the appropriate personnel to care for special needs children. Your work at T. H. Rogers School does not go unnoticed and is appreciated. Your sincere love and compassion goes beyond measure. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!
Ivory Mayhorn
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Ivory Mayhorn. Mr. Mayhorn has been a community activist for northeast Houston for approximately 37 years. He currently serves as the president of the Super Neighborhood 47. He is a voting precinct judge, board president for No More Victims Inc. He is also the founder of Launch Point LLC. Mayhorn continues to create amazing programs, activities and support systems for families and individuals in need. Mayhorn has been a major support for the elderly and assisting individuals with their re-entry process after release from incarceration. We salute you! You are Heart of Houston!
Rosey Ruiz
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Rosey Ruiz. As CEO and Founder of Aspire to Win Inc. Rosey is an advocate for individuals that have been incarcerated and with their transition back into society. Ms. Ruiz provides family reunification, counseling, individual counseling, intensive care management, job readiness, coping skills and assists with food and clothing.  Rosey helps keep our communities safe with her vibrant and uplifting personality by sharing her story and words of encouragement. Dawana Lewis-Scott
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Dawana Lewis-Scott. She is the definition of servanthood! Dawana has been the Director of Upward Bound for 30+ years. Upward Bound is a government funded college prep program for low income students. Lewis-Scott continues to motivate, inspire and uplift students to be all they can be!  She is a mentor and a beacon of light, going above and beyond to encourage the youth to pursue their dreams. Tina Colaco
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Tina Colaco. As a concerned parent, Tina took her love and passion for special needs children into action. She started various fundraisers and public awareness initiatives about the special needs population. Tina is the founder of Be An Angel Foundation. Raising thousands of dollars to provide learning opportunities and various technical devices to students with challenges. Former president George H. W. Bush named Be An Angel Foundation as one of his inspirational thousand points of life. He and Barbara Bush dedicated T. H. Rogers Aquatic Therapy Center in 1994. We salute you! Dr. Deborah Carr
Recognizing Houston’s 2016 Humanitarian Honoree Dr. Deborah Carr. As the CEO and Founder of Home-Run Hitters, Dr. Carr has been instrumental and hands-on with various community programs for individuals with disabilities. Dr. Carr spearheaded and launched recreational programs for students with limited motor skills and limited interaction skills. These programs have allowed some of the students to participate in the MDA Telethon and Camp MI Way. We salute you! You are the Heart of Houston!
